Ishaan Khatter attended the screening of Homebound in Mumbai this week, India’s official entry for the Oscars 2026 race.
What stood out to me about his Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2025 look was how seamlessly it bridged two worlds. With just a few subtle changes from the runway styling, the outfit shifted from pure Italian elegance to something that felt deeply connected to traditional Indian menswear.
The wide-leg black trousers, with their easy flow and generous proportions, instantly called to mind the comfort and movement of a classic salwar or jama. That balance of volume and drape is a hallmark of Indian dressing, and here it translated beautifully into a modern red carpet moment.
His open white shirt had a soft, fluid ease that evoked the casual refinement of a kurta—simple, and pared-back. And then there was the scarf detail draped over his shoulders, which added an extra layer of meaning. It subtly echoed a dupatta or angavastram, pieces that in Indian culture often signify both style and formality.
The effect was effortless: Dolce & Gabbana tailoring reinterpreted with a sense of cultural familiarity, modern but rooted, and completely at home on Ishaan.
Stylists: Aastha Sharma and Raghav Tibrewal.
