After a trailblazing decade and a half in NYC, Sprayground crosses the Atlantic for its London Fashion Week debut.
You may know them for their “Hello my name is” backpack. Or their “Sawtooth” shark teeth print. But this season, you’ll know of the brand from the grandeur of its splashy London Fashion Week debut. It’s a landmark moment in Sprayground’s history, one aptly celebrated with a closing choir, a fleet of gold-tinted confetti falling from the sky, and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment that filled the lauding room.
But let’s rewind. Hours before the show kicked off, as lashes were hurriedly being glued on, and soundchecks were ironing out the kinks of their sonic accompaniment, Wonderland headed backstage to meet with Sprayground Founder and Creative Director, David BenDavid. “We have excitement, we have adventure, we have love, […] and there’s so many different stories,” he tells us. “Really, Sprayground and what I really love to create is non-stop stories, stories, stories.”
Another chapter to add to the book, the British Fashion Council’s invitation to showcase Sprayground’s latest, limited-edition collection was a dream come true for Creative Director of Content, Sandflower Dyson. “It’s incredible,” she exclaims with fervent emotion, dressed in her opening and finale live musical performance show look, a Frank Lloyd Wright collaboration – which will also soon come to life through a bag collection alongside the rest of this season’s offering. And with such a momentous event, it was important for Dyson and Bendavid to truly translate Sprayground’s ethos. “This is the fifth time we’ve shown, and we’re really excited that the world will see that it’s not that hard for us to be together. We just have to have good music, great fashion, and good vibes.”
