Jodie Turner-Smith’s Schiaparelli Robot Dress for ‘Tron: Ares’

Jodie Turner-Smith joined her co-star Greta Lee on the red carpet for the Tron: Ares Paris photocall on Wednesday, but unlike Greta, Jodie made sure no one could miss the connection between fashion and film, stepping out in a look that practically blurred the line between costume and couture.

Her Schiaparelli Spring 2024 Haute Couture “robot” dress—an architectural mini with rounded shoulders, embroidered entirely with Swarovski crystals and actual electronic components in silver and green—felt as if she’d walked straight out of the Grid (the central digital world of the Tron universe) itself.

Adding to the futuristic fantasy, she styled the look with a vintage-inspired curved acrylic and Swarovski crystal choker, along with a matching minaudière featuring Schiaparelli’s signature Keyhole detail.

Every element amplified the idea of circuitry, electricity, and mechanical beauty, making it impossible not to miss the parallels with her new role in Tron: Ares.

This was a huge statement that cleverly tied her character’s digital world back to the high-fashion space. Jodie has always excelled at turning fashion into performance, but here, she made it cinematic, thematic, and truly unforgettable.

I’m not one for PVC pumps, as you know, but with so much happening with the dress and accessories, the footwear really needed to take a back seat.

I know some of you who are over thematic dressing will say this goes too far—that she looks like a circuit board—but that’s exactly the fun of it. Fashion, film, art. And if anyone can pull it off, it’s Jodie.

Stylist: Law Roach.
