Lupita Nyong’o graced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, winning the audience over with stories of conquering her cat phobia, surviving cold plunges, and even a playful round of Pictionary. She also spoke about her latest project—taking on Twelfth Night for Shakespeare in the Park, a role that’s as spirited as she is.
Fittingly, Lupita brought a dash of theatrical elegance to late-night dressing in a Chanel ensemble that felt like a modern ode to Shakespearean style. A crisp ruffle-collared white blouse layered beneath a black strapless tweed jumpsuit set the tone, while De Beers diamonds and classic satin pumps finished the look with quiet sophistication.
I will always be Team Colour when it comes to Lupita, but I love how this moment was so cleverly thematic—glamorous yet evocative of the romantic playfulness of Twelfth Night. In fact, this might just be one of my favourite Chanel moments from her.

And let’s talk beauty. Her long-time makeup artist, Nick Barose, added what he called “a touch of Purple Rain eyes”—a soft lavender shimmer that nodded to the whimsy of Shakespeare while giving the look a regal finish. It was the perfect modern interpretation of timeless theatre glamour.
