Sofia Carson stepped out for the Los Angeles premiere of Netflix’s My Oxford Year at the Netflix Tudum Theater on Thursday.
Known for her love of a grand, sweeping gown—usually reserved for her musical performances—Sofia brought that same theatrical energy to the red carpet wearing a Richard Quinn creation from the Spring 2025 collection. The white embellished strapless dress with intricate floral detailing, was made even more dramatic by the addition of a structured black double satin layer that brought volume and contrast.
I’ll admit, part of me misses the whimsical colour palette from her Giambattista Valli tulle era—those delightful pastels and ethereal silhouettes—but Sofia’s style has evolved. She’s found power in darker hues this summer, particularly black, and it’s clearly become a cornerstone of her current red carpet chapter.

What really won me over, though, was the reveal. For the after-party, she removed the black layer, showing the embellished white dress in all its standalone glory—black opera gloves still intact. It gave the look a second life and proved how considered the styling was from the start.
So the question is: did you prefer the full drama of the premiere or the stripped-back elegance of the after-party? For me, it’s the after-party.
Chopard jewels completed her look.
