Sofia Carson’s Biarritz Look Misses the Summer Vibe

Sofia Carson kicked off the 3rd Nouvelles Vagues International Biarritz Film Festival on Tuesday by attending the Opening Ceremony in France. And while her red carpet appearances are usually a source of joy—especially when she’s wearing Elie Saab—this one left me wishing she’d embraced the season a little more.

You know I’m a big fan of Sofia’s style and an even bigger fan of Elie Saab’s designs, but this Fall 2025 black cropped jacket and skirt left me struggling. Between the ruffles, the sequins, and that dramatic peplum, there was just too much going on for me to get on board with this look.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate a theatrical moment, but this one didn’t quite land. There’s a fine line between detail and distraction, and this time it just tipped into too much territory. Maybe if she’d left the jacket behind, the overall effect might have felt lighter and less overwhelming. But honestly? Even then, I’m not sure this outfit would have worked for a summer festival setting. It feels too heavy, too sombre, and just too… much.

Sofia always commits to her looks, and her beauty look was flawless as ever. But this just didn’t feel like the right moment—or the right outfit—for the occasion.
