The Emmy FYC (For Your Consideration) red carpet event for Running Point took place in LA on Friday, with Kate Hudson, Brenda Song and Mindy Kaling in attendance.
When you’re trying something new
Honestly, I’m not sure where Kate Hudson’s style is heading these days. There’s boho Kate when she’s on stage singing, which feels very much her. But her red carpet style used to be consistent. That’s why this SHUSHU/TONG brown drop-waist dress with an oversized bow has thrown me completely. I don’t think the colour, style, or design works for her—it feels out of step with everything we’ve come to expect from Kate. I’m baffled, to be honest.

Speaking of baffling, Mindy Kaling wore an Izakova top and The Mannei zipper-accented jeans. Sure, she co-created, wrote, and executive produced the show, and maybe she wanted to give us a laid-back look. But I’m not sure this was the way to go. These jeans don’t even feel like something she’d wear off-duty—or post on Instagram. I think if she had actually picked something from her own wardrobe, it might’ve landed better. I’m really not vibing with the bottom half at all.
legs for days
Is it just me, or did Brenda Song look taller in this Rosetta Getty knit beaded maxi dress? I’m putting it down to the sheerness. Seeing more of the legs appears to be giving the illusion of more height here.
