Viola Davis Was a Vision in Gucci at Cannes 2025

L’Oréal ambassador Viola Davis made her first appearance of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival for The Mastermind premiere this evening, and as expected, she did it in glorious, technicolour style—courtesy of custom Gucci.

Is there a shade on the colour wheel that doesn’t look sensational on her? I’ll wait.

This radiant hue felt fresh and exciting, but if you were hit with a soft déjà vu, you’re not imagining things. The silhouette does call to mind the Dior gown Viola wore to the Golden Gala: An Evening of Excellence back in January. At the time, I mentioned how chiffon would’ve elevated the design, giving it that lighter, more ethereal feel I was craving.

Well, the fashion universe listened, and here it is: chiffon in full, breezy glory. Manifestation in motion.

Topped with a Bvlgari choker featuring a gleaming emerald centrepiece, this look was the definition of a fully realised vision—refined, regal and completely radiant.
